The HighPoint logo is not simply a generic image.
There is symbolism and a story behind our company logo.
The HighPoint logo is intended to represent a mindset, an inspiration, and a way of life.
Traditional thinking has been that once you are over 40, your best days are behind you and life will be a steady decline in both health and career success.
For many, there is sadness and a midlife crisis experienced when they realize their best days are possibly behind them.
Not so fast.
For those individuals who choose not to simply slow down and fade away, the opportunity exists to experience a "second wind".
This second wind takes shape in the form of improved physical fitness and reaching new heights of success in business ventures and career objectives.
Hollywood actor Sylvester Stallone is a famous and well known example of this phenomenon.
Following the success and popularity of his iconic characters Rocky and Rambo in the 70s and 80s, Stallone found his career fading by the late 90s.
Many people assumed his career was out for the count.
However in 2006, a fit and muscular Stallone returned to the screen with new installments in the Rocky and Rambo franchises.
Both films were critically praised and earned over $130 million each.
In 2010, he introduced a new franchise (EXPENDABLES) which is now filming a third sequel.
The first two films averaged approximately $300 million each in worldwide box office sales.
In all these movies, Stallone exhibited an amazing level of fitness for a man in his 60s.
In fact, many people commented his level of conditioning put most younger action heroes to shame.
Certainly most of us are not as famous as Mr. Stallone, but his late life success is an example of the ideals represented by the HighPoint logo.
The second mountain peak in the High Point logo symbolizes the ability to reach a second "highpoint" in your life after what most consider the peak of their life.
A single peak would represent the traditional thinking of being "over the hill" and steadily declining after passing the midpoint of your life.
When the children have left home, a first career is past, or you have conquered other challenges in life -- you can often use your new found time to master new skills, accomplish other dreams, or tackle new challenges.
Following the routines described in FITNESS AT 40,50,60 and BEYOND, I have seen people over the age of 40 get in the best physical shape of their lives.
Perhaps when they were younger they lived a reckless lifestyle and did not take care of their health.
Perhaps the long hours spent starting a business or establishing a career prevented them from taking proper care of themselves.
Now at a later stage in life, they have both the time and mental maturity to achieve a new level of physical fitness.
There is also a personal story behind our logo.
Author Michael Spitzer has lived in South Florida for over 35 years. During that time there has been plenty of opportunity to enjoy the benefits of tropical living.
Warm winters, convenient SCUBA diving, weekly beach visits and year round swimming in backyard pools.
However, as is always the case in life --- no single place has it all.
Tropical living does not allow for enjoying seasonal changes, open skies, open roads, private nature retreats, mountains, and other variety.
One might say that "Snow-Birds" have the right idea.
Being able to live in different regions at different times of the year allows a person to enjoy the "best of both worlds".
The mountains seen in the above photo are located in a portion of the country near where the author would like to begin living for a portion of the year.
Achieving that goal would be a "highpoint" for the author.
When founding HighPoint, the concept of a dual mountain peak representing us older individuals accomplishing new goals and reaching new heights seemed like a natural fit.
Hopefully the book and other products offered on this site will help you reach your own personal "highpoints" at this stage of life.
